Storm putting on a show!

SUMMER

The weather has been a little odd this year on the North Shore but it’s produced some interesting storms. I (Alisha) took this video a couple weeks ago of a storm that was stuck over Lake Superior. While we didn’t get much rain from it the lighting it produced out on quite a show.

4th of July Fun in Tofte!

The following is from Silvi-
North Shore Rollers hosted an open roll event at this year’s Tofte 4th of July! It was a rainy and cold day so not many folks braved in to get into the tank but We enjoyed visiting with locals and visitors, and talking about log rolling! We will be back next year which will hopefully be a warmer and sunnier day! The event was a fundraiser for North Shore Rollers and the log program in our area. We offer beginner and advanced classes at the YMCA in Grand Marais during the school year!

Soak up the Sunshine!

While it’s supposed to rain on the 4th of July which is almost expected every year on the North Shore we are luckily supposed to have beautiful weather this weekend. It’s going to be an extra busy so remember to plan ahead!

Hope everyone gets out to enjoy some time on the lakes and soak up the sunshine!

Spring is in the Air!

WINTER

We have had a couple beautiful days with lots of sunshine and blue skies. Even though it will take awhile for the snow and ice to disappear it is slowly melting. The mouth of Cross River still has quite a bit of ice and the winds are pushing the loose ice in the lake against the shore. Spring is in the air! Have a great week everyone!

Even though we have a long ways to go before the snow is all gone the warmer days have been making small dents in the snowpack. Right now Cross River is still almost completely ice covered but soon the rivers will be rushing from spring melt. With all the snow in the woods I am guessing the rivers will put on quite a show this year!
