Seeing a Robin this time of year is a sign spring is going in the right direction. Seeing 2 is luck. Seeing 10+ is something I (Alisha) had never seen before, until this week! First there were just a couple and the next thing I knew the whole tree was full of Robins eating berries off the tree! If that’s not of sign of the end of winter I don’t know what is!!
Have a great weekend everyone!
While the snowstorm hit yesterday, Lake Superior put on quite a show. The waves broke up some of the ice that is still built up on the shoreline, and we got another 4-5 inches of snow. Tonight we are supposed to get yet another storm bringing 4-8 inches of snow. It seems we are going to have the winter scene a while longer before spring moves in.
Have a great weekend everyone!
We might still have a lot of snow and they might be predicting another foot of snow by the end of the weekend, but there are still signs that spring is slowly moving in. The most notable at the moment? That would be the ROBINS THAT ARE BACK! I (Alisha) saw one last week in the yard but couldn’t get a clear photo, not that this one is perfect either. But beautiful photo or not, the robins are coming back! Come on Spring!!
Have a great week everyone!
We made it, today is the first day of SPRING! The sun is shining and the snow melting off roofs. The piles of snow are softer and driveways are getting muddy, the changing of seasons is here! We will probably get another snowstorm before the grass appears from under all the snow, because we all know that’s how it works, but it’s ok because it’s officially SPRING!
Have a great weekend everyone, get out to enjoy the snow before it’s gone!
Well another snowstorm hit last night bringing 9-12+ inches of snow depending where you are in the county. Schools were closed and most people spent the day shoveling decks and clearing driveways, which will probably continue tomorrow. These pics are from Kim and Tony’s house at Tait Lake, John’s house at Deeryard Lake and my (Alisha) house in Tofte.
Hopefully this will be the last winter storm, I think we all need Spring. Good thing the first day of Spring is next week!
Have a great weekend everyone!
When we got our big snowstorm a couple weeks ago Kim got out to enjoy it. The following is from Kim: Taking advantage of the fresh two plus feet of snow recently, I went for a back country ski through an old forest service road. It was cold enough not to be sticky snow so I was able to ski through the fluff pretty well.
Although a grey day, it was spectacular in the woods. Hope you all head North to enjoy the snow before the Spring melt!!
The warm temps today really made it feel like Spring is moving in! If you get out to adventure be careful, the snow is still deep and soft so you sink! Temperance River is still covered in quite a bit of ice and the walkways/stairs are more of a big slide, but we all know a with a few days of sunshine that will all change.
Have a great week everyone!
Lake Superior was making some loud noise today while the ice piled up on the shore. The snow has settled after the warm day we have had today, but the winds are supposed to pick up tonight. Aww the joys of winter, you never know what’s coming next.
Have a great weekend everyone!
